Orientation at walmart?

I was hired at walmart. I told them I would have to give my other job a two weeks notice. Now they are bugging me to start orientation right away. What do I say to them? I’m not sure if they’ll let me keep the job if I can’t go to orientation right away. Plus I haven’t been able to talk with them when they’ve called the past two times because I’ve been busy doing other things and I’m sure they’re probably not too happy with me. I would like the job because it’s more money than my current job but I’m not really sure. It’s as a cashier. I’ve worked as a cashier for the past 4 years at another retailer with no opportunity for advancement so I’m hoping to maybe start working here and advance especially since I have a college degree.

I know that Walmart likes to have two weeks notice before you leave the job so they should respect the fact that you have to have two weeks notice for the job you are working right now. If you do not want to lose the job at Walmart I would take the time to go there and talk with personel. Remind them about your situation again. Orientation does not necessarily mean that you have to start immediately. You can still get the orientation out of the way and start working a week or two later. So I would go and talk with them.
