How to Select a Moving Company

How do you know which is the best? Generally it all begins with a bit of research. The first thing to do is to investigate the credentials of the many movers in Los Angeles that can supply you with their services. Obviously you must limit your search to those in your area of the city, and then you must reduce the pool a bit further by eliminating companies that do not provide a physical address. Why is that recommended? A good moving company will have an established business office and even a “yard” where the trucks and vans are kept. If this sort of location is not accessible to potential clients it is best to look for other movers in the Los Angeles area.

The next part of the selection process is to request quotes or estimates from at least three possible candidates. These estimates should never be determined over the phone because a moving company bases their fees on more than just the size of the home or apartment.

For one thing, if a move requires a large truck or van it will have to be parked in front of the building. If this is not possible, the moving company will have to first move boxes and furnishings out of the home and into a transport vehicle, and they will then have to drive this to the larger van and unload to this vehicle. This tends to bump the costs substantially, and only by physically visiting the site can the mover know that such costs will apply.

Only by requesting bids from those willing to visit the site can the best choice be made by the homeowner.
