There are very few if any offers that are truly given away for free.  And there are a lot of ads on the internet and television that offer free gift cards as an inducement to give something in exchange for merchandise or information.  On the internet, an email address or zip code is usually exchanged for a chance to win a valuable gift card.  Many times the exchange is for a chance to win a gift card based on the consumer fulfilling certain obligations.

Today, you can find a lot of marketing companies that are giving away “free” Walmart gift cards by doing a search on the internet.  Gift cards have become a hot marketing tool and if the consumer is careful and reads the fine print, it is possible to get these cards at little or no cost.  But this is truly a buyer beware situation.  By searching the internet you can find companies that are giving them away. Unfortunately they won’t come up in the first pages of the search engine results and you have toknow how to spot them.  Sometimes, you can find articles like this one that will help you to get a chance to win a free Walmart gift card.

The hard part is finding real free offers, There are many legitimate offers online and many bogus offers. The ones that are bogus are not always easy to spot, but there are usually clues that will help find them.  I have found that some people love to take other people’s money, and they may be good at it.  Usually with legitimate free offers, like those for Wal-Mart cards or other department store cards you have to participate in their program in some way or another before you receive the card.  There is never an exchange of money or credit card information to get a chance to win.

One ploy that is used often is to offer a free card for taking a survey or poll.  Keep in mind, that you have already given away something that is quite valuable, your email address.  Having this allows the merchant to send you future advertisements for goods or services or you might have registered for an offer.

The merchantizer is looking for a loyal customer.  It is their bread and butter and if you are a loyal customer, you may get your free goodies not just from Wal-Mart but from several others as well.

So don’t just leave those free surveys you see on those websites you browse, because there might be a free gift for you. But please, read the terms and conditions carefully before you signup to complete any survey or offer.  And never pay cash for a chance to win a free gift card.
