How can losing Manufacturing jobs to foreign countries be a good thing for America?

It seems to me that within 25 years we will have alot more people collecting SSI, and SSDI, then there will be paying into that system. A lot of this will be because so many American Companies are moving their operations overseas, because of cheaper production costs and less governemt restrictions, but yet product prices haven’t reflected their savings. Some people say that for every job lost to a Counrty overseas another job will be created here in the U.S. But where will these imaginary jobs come from? Will we build a walmart on every corner, so that another 200 people can get part-time work with 0 benefits, and not enough money to live on?

We are in a changing economy. Job loss is very difficult regardless of what economy we are in. SSI & SSDI have nothing to do with unemployment per se, they are disability related and have nothing to do with job loss. More people are on SSI & SSDI because society has become more aware & better at diagnosing disabilities than they were even 25 years ago. To answer the original question that you ask, “how can losing manufacturing jobs to foreign countries be a good thing for America”, it enables products sold in the US to be cheaper. Americans love bargains at the store–and business always looks for ways to satisfy the customer’s desires/needs. We need to look within.
