I am about to move about 2000 miles. Would it be more economical to move my furniture in a truck or buy new?

I am really not interested in buying used furniture unless it is what I REALLLLLY want. However, I am not going to buy really expensive. I may go to an outlet store or to Wal Mart or something like that.

It sounds like you have already answered your own question. You seem to want to buy new furniture. If you can afford that, go for it. Just know that there is a hassle involved whichever option you choose. For instance, what about the furniture you leave behind? Won’t you have to sell it? On the other hand, renting a truck or contracting with movers is expensive, and something always gets damaged. So make your choice, and be ready for the effort you must expend. Good luck.
