what is the difference between a netbook and laptop?

i was looking for a laptop on the walmart website and it had netbook right next to it, i clicked it and they just looked like regular laptops. I want to know if its like a newer version or what.

A laptop has a bigger screen (from 14″ and up), a CD drive and usually better performances. But it is also heavier, less portable, it hasn’t got a lot of battery life and it consumes more electricity.

A netbook is a mini-laptop. It has a smaller screen (from 13″ and less), it’s usually light and thin, so don’t expect it to be a gaming machine, it doesn’t have a CD drive and it’s harder to type on it. On the other hand, it is very portable, it has a better battery life and consumes less electricity.
