88 toyota pickup low idle/feeling of stall at idle after warmed up?

Okay, I have a 1988 toyota pickup its 2WD with a 22R-E engine. I replaced all the wires, spark plugs, roter oil change, and I THINK the Idle Air Control Valve also. Then I took it to walmart and got the injectors cleaned and I continue putting Lucus fuel injector cleaner in the gas. The problem i’ve been experiencing ever since I got the truck is whenever i’m driving around for a little bit then come to a complete stop at like a redlight the engine feels like it is going to stall out like it has a really low idle. My uncle whos a mechanic tryed adjusting the idle screw but that did no good. So today i’m going to autozone and was wondering what else could be causing this low idle? By the way I do NOT have a tacometer in my truck because its automatic and the older trucks did not have one. Oh and i forgot to mention whenever I give it a little gas when I am stopped. the feeling it is going to stall completly goes away until I let off the gas again.

it could be a lot of things assuming the miles are over 120k-which on an 88 is most likely. Do some basics like check the timing after connecting the short wire to E1 and T. It should retard the timing slightly when u do that–if not, it may have a bad throttle sensor(likely culprit). The timing chain is the achilles heal of that engine and cam timing could have jumped. For the money you have already spent-you could have had the problem diagnosed by a Toyota shop that knows your vehicle issues. Many of the tests needed here are beyond what can be explained in one paragraph. If you do not have the tools needed-the cost will exceed having a pro look at your truck. Time to take it in. Good Luck, T&T
