Why has WalMart (WMT) stock been dropping recently?

I figured that WalMart stock would go up today with the news that the economy has contracted. Instead WalMart stock has actually gone down more. Why is this? Is there something going on with the company to make the stocks price go down?

The economy contracting means that consumers will have less to spend, even at WMT.

People who wanted to buy WMT on the idea that consumers will be more cost conscious have already bought. This idea is an old story.

Today’s action was a move of about one quarter of one percent. This is a tiny wiggle in the great pushing and shoving of an active market. In spite of what talking heads on TV would have you believe, every little move is not significant.
