Remington 750 Carbine in .308 (value)?
There’s a guy at work selling a remington 750 .308 carbine. It is a black synthetic stock, this of course is a semi-automatic. He said he purchased at WalMart in 2008 for just under $700 after taxes, and he’ll take $575.00 for it. He’s put 60 rounds of core-lokt through it without any issues. Any thoughts on what it is currently worth?
This isn’t a 742 woodsmaster, I know those sell for around 300 in good shape (I’ve got one) this is a newer model 750.
PASS!
That’s not a deal at all. Synthetic stock rifle for $575? Forget it.
I sold a 99% Remington model 742 about 2 years ago for $350. I thought that was fair..and I still do.
Do this. Go to gunbroker.com and do a search on “Remingotn 750″. Guess what? You will find plenty of New in the Box rifles with synthetic stocks for $575.
Let some other sucker take that deal. I don’t know where you live, but I can go to a big gunshow like the Ohio Gun Collectors’ or Pennsylvania Gun Collectors’ shows and find tables with auto-loading centerfire Remingtons for under $400 with no problem. And…the table owners would be willing to negotiate on the price.
EDIT: Brother, new is not the same as improved. I remember when Weatherby only sold high-end rifles. It was called the Mark V. Now, they call it their “Deluxe” model…since they offer $400 plastic-stocked guns in Walmart. I bet your Remington 742 has a metal trigger guard. And, I bet that the Remington 750 has one made of plastic. And, what is prefered when it comes to stocks? Injection molded plastic or checkered American walnut?
For $575 I could buy a 99% Remington 742 with Redfield base and rings and a 3-9x Leupold duplex scope.
